The Joy of Good Food - Spanish Specialties

Simple & local

Cantabrian cuisine inspires especially with stews, meat, fish and their delicious desserts. In Cantabria, a lot of value is placed on high-quality ingredients. For example, the particularly tasty Bonito del Norte (tuna) finds its way into one of the most famous national dishes, the Marmita.

Cuisine between the Sea and Mountains

The cuisine and restaurants in San Vicente de la Barquera are heavily influenced by the sea. As a coastal town, fresh fish and seafood are always on the menu. The top-notch anchovy specialties are especially well-known and loved by many chefs and foodies. They say these are the best anchovies in the world!

On the other hand, the Cantabrian mountains, with their fertile valleys, have a great reputation for their high-quality dairy products, mostly produced by small family farms. After the main course, you'll often find a generous regional cheese platter. Bakers and long-established confectioneries delight visitors with delicious creations made from high-quality ingredients. But Cantabria is also well-known throughout Spain for its exceptionally high-quality meat.
